Step by step

Setting up your Happy Hooker

  1. Step 1

    Attach the loop

Attach the enclosed loop to the last eye of your fishing rod with a slipknot. Trim the ends.

  2. Extending the Happy Hooker arm and tightening the fluted knob
    Step 2

    Extend the arm

Loosen the fluted knob, extend the arm to the desired length, and re-tighten the knob.

  3. Happy Hooker rod holder locked upright with stabilizers extended
    Step 3

    Set up the base

Extend the rod holder, flip it up and lock it into the vertical position. Extend the stabilizers on each side.

  4. Fishing rod placed in the Happy Hooker rod holder
    Step 4

    Place your rod

Place the rod into the rod holder.

  5. Loop attached to the Happy Hooker trigger in the set position
    Step 5

    Set the trigger

Attach the loop to the hook-like trigger and set the trigger as shown. Set the tension on the triangular knob according to the size of fish you're fishing for.

  6. Fishing line placed in the Y trigger down into the ice hole
    Step 6

    Drop your line

Place the fishing line in the Y trigger, down into the ice hole.

  7. Step 7

    Fine-tune the trigger

If the trigger system is slipping, you may need to tighten the hook trigger with a #20 Torx driver. If it is too tight, the loop will not come off the trigger. The trigger should be just tight enough to hold the striking position. Newer models have two knobs to address this.

Safety first. Use caution while setting the trigger. Adult supervision is required. Read the full safety notice.
